The Solar Air Shuttle is probably the largest flying thing you will ever own. It’s made from a very thin black poly tube about 3 feet in diameter and 9 feet long. It’s huge! When placed on the ground, the radiation from the sun causes the inside air to heat up and therefore become less dense than the surrounding cooler outside air; thus the Shuttle flys. In sunny conditions it only takes a minute or so to heat up enough to fly. A string is included to keep the airborne device from going out of sight. The instructions indicate that an untethered Shuttle could go as high as 30,000'! Best flown in dead calm air. It’s an unique experience to see this thing floating off into space. |
